About Ron Otten

Process facilitator working where change, leadership, and organizational development come together.

I help leaders, teams, and organizations create conditions in which leadership can unfold. I do this from a systemic and practical perspective, an eye for coherence, and a sharp sense of what is moving in the undercurrents.

Some background

I try to look at organizations the way I look at life: as living systems in which everything influences everything else.
My career took me from blue collar jobs to the world of theatre and film to ICT and business unit management. This broad background fuels my ability to approach complex questions with both analytical precision and imagination — always driven by the question of what truly brings people and systems into motion.

I hold a master’s degree (M.F.A.) in Theatre, Film, and Television Studies (York University, Canada) and am internationally certified in, among others, Multipliers, ROI methodology, Spiral Dynamics, MBSR, Nonviolent Communication, and systemic work. I work bilingually, have an international orientation, and move with ease between the shop floor and the boardroom. And I alway try to do that with a healthy dose of humour and a strong tendency to relativize by zooming out to the bigger picture.

What inspires me?

My view on leadership has been shaped by more than thirty years of practical experience, scientific literature, and ongoing personal development. I am inspired by Bill Torbert’s work on the developmental stages of leaders, by systemic thinking, by quantum physics and by wisdom traditions such as Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism and the First Nations people of North America .

These sources invite me to slow down and become more aware — qualities that in my view are equally essential in organizations if we want to act and work in a truly sustainable way.
My motivation is to help cultivate leadership that is not driven by power or position, but by awareness, coherence, and a sense of service to the larger whole.
